Hi, I’m Craig Bailey and this is my personal blog where I write about technology, business systems, HubSpot and general life experiences. You can read my posts here.

(If you are looking for the Content is King post by Bill Gates it is here)

I’m involved with three agencies in Sydney:

  • The first is XEN Systems. We help government departments and mid-large B2B technology companies with their sales and marketing strategy, including implementation and training in HubSpot
  • The second is XEN Create. We provide premium graphic design services to companies, with a focus on using the latest AI tools, including Midjourney
  • The third is XEN Solar, where we help high quality solar companies (dealers, installers) with their sales and marketing processes.

I also co-host HubShots, the podcast and YouTube show focussed on getting the most out of HubSpot. We are the creators of the HubShots Framework.

2008: The Year of VSTO

2

There’s been a number of predictions made about technology for 2008, and of course a list of disappointments for the past year. Considering that no ones really takes any of them very seriously, then why not add my own :-) Here’s my prediction:2008 will be the year that Office Business Applications go mainstream*. And by Office Business Applications (OBAs) I’m interested...

PERSONAL: Welcome to 2008

P

I’ve had a nice two week break over the Christmas and New Year period. The first week was spent on chores, family events and generally unwinding. The second was spent reading and thinking, and catching up with a few close friends. Now, I just need another week to do all those technology related projects I intended to get finish… I decided to avoid email and blog reading over the...

Internet filtering in Australia

I

An interesting decision by our new Australian Government to put in place mandatory opt-out filtering on Australian ISPs. Not that I particularly mind, since I've never really been worried about campaigning for free speech etc, etc, and I think protecting children from porn is probably a good idea. (Note: the filtering is only supposed to be to schools and houses – not businesses) But...

ELCOM: Developers going dark

E

Microsoft developers (I’m told) have the option to ‘go dark’ at times. At least that’s what Joe Schwetz indicated at a recent Sydney Deep meeting. The aim is to allow them to catch up on projects that are running behind. The process involves killing all distractions (email, blogs, phone calls, IM, etc) and focusing on priorities. I’m sure many software companies use...

Political correctness link

P

Yep, I agree with Wayne that this is getting silly. Sesame Street being wound back due to all that harmful stuff they did in the 70s, 80s and 90s. No wonder this world is in such a mess :-) But fear not, the pendulum swings both ways and in a decade or so we'll see the push back on political correctness going way too far the other way. In case I haven't mentioned it before, my favourite...

Pex – Test generation for .NET

P

Microsoft Research has a nice idea coming with its Pex dynamic unit test creation project. It aims to automatically generate unit tests based on your current code being developed. It sounds pretty cool.   But it begs the following parody 'tip'. So, here's a great idea for developing your own massive software empire: 1. Start with the seed of an idea 2. Start writing simple code 3...
