Hi, I’m Craig Bailey and this is my personal blog where I write about technology, business systems, HubSpot and general life experiences. You can read my posts here.

(If you are looking for the Content is King post by Bill Gates it is here)

I’m involved with three agencies in Sydney:

  • The first is XEN Systems. We help government departments and mid-large B2B technology companies with their sales and marketing strategy, including implementation and training in HubSpot
  • The second is XEN Create. We provide premium graphic design services to companies, with a focus on using the latest AI tools, including Midjourney
  • The third is XEN Solar, where we help high quality solar companies (dealers, installers) with their sales and marketing processes.

I also co-host HubShots, the podcast and YouTube show focussed on getting the most out of HubSpot. We are the creators of the HubShots Framework.

Get ClearContext for free

G

I’ve been using ClearContext for the last two months and I love it. But it costs over $100 (Australian). That’s a lot to pay. But I paid it and haven’t regretted it. However, what if you could get a license for free? Well you can. Check out the ClearContext blog for details – you just have to write a review of the product and let them know. For those not familiar with...

Google Sky

G

Google’s freshly released Google Sky is nice. But having seen the demos for the upcoming Microsoft World Wide Telescope I can’t help but be under-whelmed. btw when in Google Sky try clicking on Earth (from the Solar System link, bottom left) – it takes you to Google Maps…

New version of OutTwit released

N

For all those people using OutTwit as your Twitter client (it basically brings Twitter into Outlook), you’ll be interested I’m sure to get the latest version (released yesterday). The best things about this release (0.4.2.22) is that it pulls in all your replies. So, even if you’re offline for a few hours, once you reconnect it pulls in the replies that you would have otherwise...

Elcom upgrade of Microsoft CRM 3.0 to 4.0

E

Brad Marsh has a few screenshots of our upgrade experience from Microsoft CRM 3.0 to 4.0 Summary: it went extremely well. My comment: CRM 4.0 seems to be slower than 3.0 but since it’s running on an old server, it was expected (new server infrastructure coming in the next few weeks – Yay!). Overall, no real problems. Our CRM scenario is pretty standard with only a few customizations...

TIP: How to uninstall IE8

T

If, like me, you rushed out and installed Internet Explorer 8 last week, then you may, like me again, be regretting it. IE8 has been slow, unstable and ugly. By ugly I mean that most of the sites I viewed looked really bad (or didn't render at all). The price of progress you may say? After all, the push is on for better standards compliance right? Unfortunately, the IE8 Beta 1 release seems...

TIP: How to create a Microsoft LiveID with your own domain name

T

This one crops up from time to time. You need a Microsoft LiveID for use with say Windows Messenger. But when you go through the sign up process, you only have options for a .hotmail.com or .live.com domain on your alias. If you have registered your own domain name, then ideally you want your LiveID profile to be somehow linked to that as well. Turns out it is pretty simple. There are many ways...

TIP: The Top Mistake of public speaking

T

I mentioned in a previous post that I was really nervous when I presented at the Microsoft Launch last week. This actually caught me by surprise, because I am usually pretty comfortable presenting in front of groups. At home that night I was wondering why I had suddenly tensed up. Was it the large crowd (the room was packed – probably more than 300 people)? Unlikely. I've done that...

TIP: Fixing the annoying Vista Windows Explorer View quirk

T

Like many people I was hoping that Vista SP1 would fix the issue with Views in Windows Explorer changing randomly. But alas, it didn't. Gee, must be a big bug. Anyway, there is a registry hack that fixes it – sort of. It doesn't actually fix it, rather it just sets all the folders undefined, which in effect will keep them at the current view. To enable it you'll need to add a...

MEDIA: Speaking at a Microsoft Media event

M

Last week I spoke at my first media event. Which was kinda fun. Here's what happened. As part of the Microsoft Heroes Happen Launch event last week, Microsoft put on a media event. It was all organised by their PR company (in this case Howorth Communications) and involved getting a few key Microsoft executives (Martin Gregory and Bob Kelly) plus a few clients (5 in this case) to tell of their...

Mick Badran on BizTalk and Carbon footprints…

M

Mick’s post on his recent BizTalk RFID training course is great news of course, but the snippet that caught my eye was this. When talking about customer uptake of RFID, here’s the approach that got a good response. He quotes Scott Allen (a Microsoft Technical Specialist): Scotty inspired me with his take on BizTalk RFID – he said "If you tell clients we’ve got a show...
