MSDN Code Gallery – a great resource

Microsoft Code GalleryOne of things I found myself saying when going through the excellent How Do I videos is: Where's the code? Here's the answer. Thanks Microsoft. (via Beth Massi and Soma) Also check out wOOdy's Visual FoxPro code snippets. Complaints I don't usually like to complain when something good like this comes out, but gee I wish Microsoft could improve the whole user...

CLARITY: VSTS, VSTO, VSTA, VSX

Seems like Microsoft is having a V Day, every day. Here's a run down of the main V technologies/tools: VSTS (Visual Studio Team System) Firstly, Visual Studio. Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo for $44B

TechCrunch reports that Microsoft has offered to buy Yahoo for $44.6B.
The most interesting thing for me: a guy at work told me this last week (and named the $ figure correctly). Being the well informed chap I am :-) I told him he was mistaken. Come Monday, after apologising to him for my lack of faith, I'll be wanting to know how he knew…

People love these kinds of rumours, especially when they talk about a software company turning their back on long standing clients. Always gets attention. Thankfully this load of hokum about VBA being discontinued is not true. The VSTO blog clears it up. To be...

Microsoft office space allocation

One of the Exchange team members gives a quick run down of how office seating is allocated at Microsoft. They have a bit of a problem with too many staff at present, so seating is at a premium. The first comment (by Brian G) on the post gives a suggestion as to how it could be solved. Classic.

ELCOM: More on Windows 2008, SQL 2008, VS 2008

Earlier this week I mentioned Elcom had moved everything over to 2008 (that is, our product – Community Manager.NET – is now targeting .NET 3.5 in Visual Studio 2008, and our site is running on Windows Server 2008 with SQL Server 2008 on the back end). Initial thoughts were that the site was running a bit quicker. Turns out we were wrong. The site is actually running a lot quicker...
